James L. McGonigal
The final chapter of James L. McGonigal's life story came to the end on September 8, 2011 at the age 65. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam. James worked at B. F. Goodrich as a conveyer belt and aircraft tires builder for 19 years, and at S. D. Myers as a transformer consultant for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his father, James J. "Pop" McGonigal. James is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 45 years, Elizabeth "Lizzie"; children, James P. McGonigal, Catherine (Daniel) Boyes, and Mary (Scott) Hackett; 5 loving grandchildren, Jaclyn, Josh, Jordyn, Dylan, and Riley; mother, Shirley Burnett; brothers, Patrick (Cindy) Steele, and Dennis (Fran) McGonigal; and many other family members and friends. Calling hours will be held Sunday, September 11, from 4 to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A funeral mass will be held Monday, September 12, at 10 am at the Holy Family Church on Kent Rd. in Stow. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH.
