James F. "Jim" Lang
June 14, 1940 — July 13, 2024
James F. "Jim" Lang, age 84, of Stow, passed away on July 13, 2024 at Akron City Hospital. He was born on June 14, 1940 to the late Peter and Wilma Lang in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Garfield High School in 1958 before attending the University of Akron where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Economics. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964.
On November 22, 1960, he married the love of his life, Dorothy "Dottie" Lang (nee Kendall).
Jim worked as an HR Executive for Stone Container before his retirement.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for his entire life.
Jim and Dottie loved traveling and they also enjoyed sailing on Lake Michigan on his boat, the Charla Dawne.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy; children, Brian Lang and Charla (Scott) Christopher; siblings, Adaline Evans, Barb Partin and Dave (Pam) Lang; grandchildren, Brittany Parker, Taylor (Michelle) Lang, Kylie (Jon) Bender and Lucas (Isabella) Christopher; great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Avalynn and Evan Parker, Katherine and James Bender, and Clementine and Cohen Christopher.
He is preceded in death by his parents and many extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305) on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 10:30am until the time of his funeral service at 12:30pm. Military honors will take place at the funeral home before Pastor John Mashek officiates the service.
There will be a private family committal before Jim is laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
