James H. Long, "Jim", age 74, went to meet his father at the post on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at his home.
He was born on January 22, 1944 in Akron, the son of the late Jennings and Nellie (nee Short) Long.
Jim loved people and LOVED to laugh. He loved to make people laugh. Jim was a 1962 graduate of Ellet High School. He especially loved the outdoors as he liked hunting and fishing. However, his greatest joy was spending time with the people he loved most, his loving wife, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, the former Donna L. Romesberg, whom he married on September 13, 1968; his two children, Michael "Jimmy" (Cyndi) Long and Traci (Shane) Waldeck; his three grandchildren, Mason, Brooke, and Hailey Waldeck; his one brother, Larry (Renny) Long; his half-siblings, Lee (Linda) Long, Phyllis Long, and George Long.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron at 1:00 PM, where Pastor Jason Knight will celebrate James' life.
Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
Mr. Long will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron.
Jim's wishes were that he would love to see you again, accept and follow Christ and "meet him at the post". And please COME HAPPY AND NOT TO CRY.
