James Patrick 'Pat' Lowe, age 89, of Akron, Ohio was reunited with his beloved wife, Lula, on October 31, 2024. James was born on June 11, 1935 in Cairo, West Virginia.
James is preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Lula, his cherished granddaughter, Christy Lipscomb, his daughter-in-law, Jan Lowe, his parents Charles and Garnet Lowe, and his four brothers.
James is survived by his three children, James R. Lowe, Jane (Michael) Andrick, and Dawn (Mark) Lipscomb. James also leaves behind four grandchildren, Kaitlin (Michael) Miller, Parker (Lauren) Lipscomb, Erica (Tommy) Lapera, Nicole Andrick, and five great-grandchildren, Elena, Sloane, and Vaughn Miller, Ryleigh Lapera, and Louella Lipscomb. He will also be deeply missed by brother-in-law, Jack Bradley, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, along with special family friends, Becky, Ron, and Kristina Compton. He also leaves behind his loyal and faithful companion, his rescue bulldog, Fergus, whom he inherited from his granddaughter, Christy.
James was a United States Army veteran and served during the Korean war. James retired from Ohio Edison after more than 35 years of service.
James loved to keep busy, he found many things to help occupy his time once he retired. A lot of his free time was spent with his grandchildren. You could find him attending horse shows, where everyone there knew him as Grandpa" and, also the person who always brought the donuts, which made him the most popular person there. You could also find him at dance recitals, band shows, multiple sporting events, including baseball, football, and basketball games, track and field events, and high school plays. He was also a great babysitter for his great-granddaughter.
Also, when not attending the many functions for his grandchildren, James kept busy by being a taxi service, whether for his family, friends, or neighbors, if you needed a ride somewhere, he was always your man.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and our deep appreciation for our father's neighbors, for all their help and kindness shown to him over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James's name to the Summit County Humane Society.
