James R. Malcolm, Sr., 78, passed away October 16, 2022 with his family by his side. Born in Buchanon, WV to Alonzo and Madge (Wetzel) Malcolm, he lived in the Portage Lakes/Newton Falls areas all of his adult life. Jim retired from Goodyear Aerospace/ABS with over 40 years of service. He enjoyed fishing with his brothers, going to Myrtle Beach with his family, gardening, tinkering with his tractors, watching the Steelers and Pirates, going to the Barberton Speedway, traveling to Gettysburg, shopping at Roger's Flea Market and most of all, spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Susan; son, Justin; siblings, Bud, Charles, Eva, Betty, Sissy, Donald, Arley. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Paulette; children, Diane (Ken) Stevenson, Sally (Doug) Greenwald, Russ (Nikki) Malcolm; grandchildren, Stephanie (Chris), Cody (Rachael), Kristen (Greg), Kenny (Samantha), Kyle, Mark, Brandon; great grandchildren, Kylie, Brayden, Karie.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, October 28, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Jim's name to the American Cancer Society.
