James Richard (Dick) McVan
James Richard (Dick) McVan, 80, passed away surrounded by family on May 16, 2006. He was born on December 23, 1925 in Akron and was a life long resident. He was a Navy World War II veteran. Preceded in death by his mother, Claire McVan; son, James M. McVan; and grandson, James A. Hardman. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Marilyn Dawn; son, Thomas R. (Mena) McVan of Tyler, TX; daughter, Marilyn (Michael) Hardman; daughter-in-law, Patricia McVan; sisters, Sister Margaret Marie of Munroe, MI, Ethel Smith of Cuyahoga Falls, and Mildred Lance; brother, Thomas E. McVan of East Palestine; grandchildren, Mindy (Robert) Woodard, Michael S. McVan, Cathy (Jim) Story, Thomas G. (Courtney) McVan, Brian (Margaret) McVan, Philip McVan, Jerry (Kara) Hardman, Dan (Patti) Hardman, and Jon Hardman; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Patti Hardman for all her help during the last year. Calling hours will be TODAY from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. with Fr. Paul Rosing officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
