James E. Mitchner, 79, of Akron, passed away on August 11, 2017. He was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 6, 1938 to the late Adren and Mary Mitchner. Jim honorably served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from Quality Carriers. He had many hobbies and interests, including photography, NASCAR, computers, and piloting small planes.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; second wife, Helen; and son, Joseph. He will be deeply missed by his loving children, Dave Mitchner and Sue Six; grandchildren, Ken, Donna, and Allie Mitchner, Joey and Shelby Mitchner, Rebecca and Andrew Six; four great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, followed by a procession to Holy Cross Cemetery for a committal service.
