James Nathan Koons, age 80, of Green, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Sunday October 20, 2024 at Copley Health Center. He was born on January 11, 1944 in Akron, Ohio to the late Paul and Ruby (Evans) Koons. He was an Army Veteran where he earned a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. James worked as a tool grinder at Goodyear and Goodyear Aerospace; then he was a machine assembler at Advanced Poly-Packaging, Inc.
James was a beekeeper and filled many jars with honey. He started a nonprofit organization to preserve the King James version of the Bible; he gave away family Bibles and sold them at cost. He also loved to make caramel popcorn balls on the holidays. He was a jack of all trades even building a pole barn building. He was generous with his money and time helping others..
James is survived by brother Joseph (Connie) Koons; sister Barbara (Bob) Lehmann; sister Irene (Don) Cummings; sister-in-law Alice Koons; brother-in-law Don Berringer; and nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and cousins including Bob (Debbie) Cole.
He was preceded in death by his brother John Koons; and sister Judy Berringer.
Private Family Visitation will be October 29, 2024, Tuesday 10-11 AM held at Newcomer Funeral Home and a graveside service for all family and friends will be Tuesday 11:30 at Woods Cemetery in Uniontown, Ohio.
