James Ray Davis

James R. Davis
James R. Davis, 81, went to be with his Lord on November 9, 2011. He retired from Babcock and Wilcox, and then worked for Ron Chaffman Construction Co. James was very active at the Community Gospel Tabernacle, and later at Lakeview Lighthouse. Jim recently resided at Falls Village Retirement Center where he kept busy with the Activities department and crafts that he enjoyed sharing. He was preceded in death by his wife Glenna whom he married September 26, 1987, and previous wife, Mary; parents, James G. and Ruie Davis; brothers, Jeral, Burl, and Carl; and sisters, Emogene Ervin, and Eileen Blake. James is survived by his daughters, Judy (Ed) Woodard, Carroll (Larry) Dickinson, and Amelia Joy (Stan) Hebb; sons, Marshall (Judy) Brown, and Aaron (Gail) Brown; sister-in-law, Jackie Davis; 16 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and closest friend, Ron Chaffman. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, November 15, from 6 to 9 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Additional visitation on Wednesday, November 16, from 11 am to 12 noon at the Community Gospel Tabernacle, 181 E. State St., Barberton, 44203, followed immediately by the funeral service with Rev. Teresa Pierce officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
