James "Jim" Sullivan 12/12/1944 - 7/25/2020
Jim passed comfortably after a five month battle into God's Arms with his wife Mary by his side every step of this journey. Jim is a very proud retiree of the Akron Fire Department. Jim retired with 25 years of service and retired as a Lieutenant.
He valued the brotherhood of the firefighters and counted them as his family. After Jim's retirement he spent his time on his beloved Lake Erie with his First Mate Mary at his side always maxing out on the walleye limit. Jim's love of fishing has been shared with his brother, sons, nephews, and nieces and countless friends. Jim was always eager to share the beauty and peacefulness of the lake. He was the son of the late Vern and Fred Murphy.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Mary (Durnas) Sullivan; sons, Jim (Christine) of Myrtle Beach SC, Jeffrey (Jodee) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Sean (Santy) Los Angeles, California, Ryan Sullivan of Colorado, Robert (Chelsea) Durnas of El Paso, Texas; brother David (Janine) Sullivan and sister, Beckie (Greg) Kroah; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Jim appreciated all of the visits from his Firefighter brothers and from his fishing buddies.
We would like to thank Kris, Lori, Jamie, Beth and Melanie from Harbor Light Hospice for the kind and loving care they gave Jim and the comfort they provided to Mary and family. Should you choose, donations can be sent to Harbor Light Hospice.
Jim would like you to know that he left a few fish in Lake Erie and hopes you take the time to try to catch the big one.
