James R. Turney

James "Jim" Russell Turney, age 83, of Uniontown, Ohio, died May 31, 2022. He was born March 29,1939 to Charles and Lola Turney of Suffield, Ohio. Jim and Judy were married on July 13, 1963 and were together for over 65 years.
He attended Kent State University. He worked for Goodyear for 40 plus years before he retired in 2002. He had a love for animals, enjoyed working outside, tending to his beautiful landscape, riding and napping in his golf cart and drinking cokes on his front porch in his rocking chair. He enjoyed boating and traveling with Judy and family. He was very witty and could always make you laugh and smile.
He is survived by wife, Judy; son, Jamie (Jennifer); and 3 grandchildren: Jay, Josie and Joel Turney; sisters, Francis Shier, Sue Carver, and Patty Turney of North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Alice Ward and Thelma Thomas.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 2 - 4 p.m. followed by a 4 p.m. funeral service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Pastor Stephen Neumeyer officiating.
