James Underwood

James "Beaver" Underwood, 58, of Akron passed away July 30, 2022. Born in Akron on August 6, 1963 to Jim and Freda (Wander) Underwood, he was a lifelong area resident. Beaver enjoyed sports, painting, playing cornhole and taking care of all of his animals. He graduated from Ellet High School in 1981, coached youth baseball and played softball for multiple companies. Beaver worked at Alco Chemical for 20 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, David Underwood, Craig Underwood; brother-in-law, Bernie Barnhart. Beaver will be sadly missed by his daughter, Kayley Underwood; sister, Lisa Underwood Barnhart; sister-in-law, Julie Underwood Browning; former wife, Pam Underwood; best friend, Jeff Tyner; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Beaver's name to the Humane Society of Summit County.
