James Milton Wroe Sr., "Jim", age 77 of Akron, Ohio, died of a massive heart attack on Friday, July 30, 2021, doing what he loved doing best, watching and supporting his boys racing their vehicles at Quaker City Motor Sports Park in Salem, Ohio.
He was born on February 4, 1944 in Akron, the son of the late Milton and Edna (nee Blackie) Wroe.
Jim owned and operated, along with his sons, Wroe's Auto Center Inc. in Lakemore/Akron. Other than racing and vehicles, he loved golfing and tinkering with his lawn mowers and taking care of his meticulous lawn, which had a green and fairway in the backyard.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Cheryl Krepps, whom he married on September 4, 1965; his sons, James Milton (Dawn) Wroe Jr., Michael Wroe and Thomas Wroe; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Wroe, Brandon Wroe, Jamie (Scott) Rechel, Jared Edgar, and Brynette Igo; and his several great-grandchildren.
He also has a brother, John (Cindy) Wroe and a sister, Joyce Starkey, who also survive.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron on Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM.
The funeral service will take place at Newcomer Funeral Home on Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 2:00 PM.
Following all services, Jim will be cremated.
