James Michael Yontz

James Michael Yontz, 58, of Tallmadge, passed away on February 13, 2024. He was born in Akron, Ohio on March 25, 1965 and graduated from East High School. He was an extremely talented painter and wallpaper hanger and spent 25 years employed in the maintenance department at Summa.
Jim loved sports. He was an avid Browns fan and held season tickets for several years. He followed WWE wrestling and NHRA drag racing. He attended the NHRA race at Summit Racing every year for the past decade. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Edwin Yontz. He will be dearly missed by his son, James Edwin Yontz; mother, Verna Yontz; stepson, Tristan (Laurie) Stewart; sisters, Lisa (Edgel) Wills and Lori (Brad) Farrell; nieces and nephews, Lauren, Juan, Ashly, Mark, Noah, and Elianna. Jim also leaves his beloved cat, Tigger, and dog, Stanley.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. followed by a 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter of one's choice.
