Jane Louise Ensminger passed away on September 26, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born to Ralph and Anna Lohr on October 15, 1932 in Akron, Ohio.
After she graduated from Ellet High School, she began work at Goodyear as a secretary working for Harvey Ensminger (her future father-in-law) who was editor of the Wingfoot Clan. Harvey told his son Bruce about a pretty girl in the office and it wasn't long before they were married on June 13, 1952. Bruce died 69 years later on their anniversary.
Jane enjoyed the outdoors and spent much time with Bruce hiking and camping. They spent many winters in Ocala, FL where they owned a condo. She sang in the choir (along with Bruce) at Oak Hill Presbyterian church and the Akron Chapel. She would often take trips with Bruce to Amish country where she enjoyed seeing the horse and buggies on the rolling hills. She was unable to just sit around and was always ready to go somewhere (even after she had just arrived).
She loved her family and even right up to the end had a big smile when her grandson and great grandchildren would visit. She is preceded in death by her husband Bruce Ensminger, her parents Ralph and Anna Lohr, and siblings John Lohr and Mary Hornbeck. Left to cherish her memory are her children Debbie (Jeff Hawkins) Ensminger and Richard (Lori Isaacs) Ensminger, grandson James (Lindsay) Ensminger and great-grandchildren Brenden, Olivia and Henry.
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 10:30 to 11:30 am. A graveside service will immediately follow with burial at Hillside Memorial Park.
