Jane F. (Konkel) Floto, 88, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017. She was born in Akron, Ohio to Arthur and Helen Konkel. Jane was a long-time member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. After retiring from Akron Children's Hospital, she became an active volunteer with several organizations.
Jane was a fun-loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed being involved in activities and sporting events with her family. She was a gracious, excellent role model and friend who loved to dance, sew, bake and play games.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard; son Arthur, and daughter Mary Ann, brothers Arthur Jr. and Robert, sisters Marjorie Curtis, Vera Laser, Rosemary Willett, Elizabeth Regallis, and Benita Weirtz.
Jane is survived by daughters Nancy (Richard) Willett of Tallmadge, Carolyn (fiance Randy) Nicholas of Florida, Diane (Mark) Sitar of California, Daniel (Joanie) Floto of Wintersville, Joyce (Jon) Campailla of Randolph, Lori (Steve) Mullen of Florida, Janet Mealy of Springfield Township, Lisa (Dan) McElwain of Uniontown, and Leslie (Kenyon) Kurtz of Minerva. She is also survived by sisters, Dorothy Riley and Joyce Gargano, brother Richard (Diane) Konkel, sister-in-law Beth Weirtz and brother-in-law William (Diane) Floto; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to friends and the caring staff at Summa at Home and Hospice for their outstanding care of Jane throughout her illness.
Friends may call at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 from 4 to 7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2603 Berne St., Akron followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
