Janet Cook

Janet Rae (Spencer) Cook went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2005. Janet was born in Junior, WV on May 20, 1942, graduated from Kenmore High School in 1960, and married Everett "Bill" Cook the same year. She was a long-time member, Sunday school teacher, and nursery worker at the Akron Baptist Temple. Preceded in death by her father Ira Brooks Spencer, brother Darl Spencer, and her husband Everett "Bill" Cook. Survivors include her five children: Sandy Dolan, Mary (Doug) Teter, Denise (Christopher) Davidson, Crystal (Kevin) Hoffman, and Joshua; her seven grandchildren: Benjammin, Emma, Lauren, James, Leannah, Victoria, and Carla; five sibings: Dorothy Simmons, Don Spencer, Melba Ice, Emma Jean Norcom, and Mildred Spencer; her mother Pauline Spencer; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral service will be Wednesday, 11 a.m. at the Akron Baptist Temple, Rev. Ernie Kemppel officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
