Janet Patricia Williams "Patty"
Janet Patricia Williams, 73, of Akron, passed away August 31, 2011. Patty was born on January 3, 1938 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania to the late Thomas and Alice Martin. She was raised in Clarksburg, West Virginia where she graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1956. She moved to Akron in the 1960s and worked as a registered nurse. For most of her career, she worked in the oncology department at St. Thomas Hospital. In her free time, Patty enjoyed cheering on the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavs. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 25 years, David Williams; brother, Tom (Louise) Martin; sons, David (Dawn) Cathers, Charles (Julie) Shinn, Jerry (Sonia) Shinn, and Glen Shinn; stepdaughters, Tracey (John) Williams and Kimberly (Steve) Williams; and grandchildren, Christine, Olivia, Brooklyn, Abigail, Emily, Allison, Maddison, Glen, Caitlin, Wesley, Georgie, Gina, Dustin, Cameron, and Shane. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 7 from 4-6 followed by a 6:00 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Private burial at Hillside Memorial Park.
