Janice E. Hurdt
Janice E. Hurdt went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2012. She was a long time member of the Chapel in Akron and was active in the Singles Ministry. After retiring from the Akron Public Schools, Jan enjoyed crafts and participating in a stamping club. She cherished time spent with her cousin Becky Woodruff and close friends Rose Conley, Nancy Straw and Patty Quinn. Jan was cast as an extra in the recent movie 25 Hill. Her family and friends will sorely miss her. Jan leaves behind her son, Christopher (Stacey) Hurdt; sister, Judy (James) Morris; brother, Russell Rish; nephews, Thomas & Timothy Morris; and many close friends. Her parents, Ruby (Betty) & Harold Rish, preceded her in death. Calling hours will be held Monday, January 30, from 11 am to 1 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Larry Shaw officiating. Jan's burial is to follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chapel.
