Jean Petty

Jean Petty, 79, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away December 19, 2011. She was born in Akron on October 21, 1932. Jean graduated from Hummel College and was employed as an executive secretary at Schott International Textiles for 20 years. She retired from A & R Tire after 15 years of service. Jean led a simple life, devoted her life to her family and volunteered for the Leukemia Society. Mom was a genuinely kind person who always listened. Gram leaves us with many loving memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Violet Hammar; husband, Ray Petty; and brother, Robert Hammar. She will be deeply missed by her children, Becky (Sonny) Shively and David Slawter; stepchildren, Lynn (Tony) Pastoria and Greg (Judy) Petty; brother, Floyd "Bud" (Betty) Hammar; grandchildren, Joleene (Shane) Ross, and Tami (Rob) Cummings; great-grandson, Trevor; and many nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Jean also leaves many dear friends who will remember her. Her family would like to thank Hospice of Summa for all the care given to Jean. Visitation will be Friday December 23 from 4-7 followed by a 7 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Private interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
