Jeanette Faye Johnson, 69, of Akron, passed away on September 3, 2024. She was born on January 7, 1955 in Bellevue, Ohio, the youngest of the five children of the late Clyde Henry and Claire Lorraine Johnson.
Jeanette graduated from Bellevue Senior High School in 1973 before attending Akron General Nursing College. She earned her nursing degree in 1978 and spent 44 years as a registered nurse. She worked at many facilities including Akron General Medical Center, Brecksville VA, multiple area nursing homes, and she retired from Guardian Angel Hospice in 2019.
She was a longtime member of Waypoint Freewill Baptist Church in Akron. Jeanette was a gifted musician. She played the trumpet in high school and college and enjoyed playing the piano until her eyesight grew poor. An avid animal lover, Jeanette rescued countless dogs for Rubber City Rescue.
She was a wonderful mother, sister, and friend and will be truly missed by everyone who knew her. She was an amazing nurse, improving so many lives throughout her career.
In addition to her parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her nieces, Gina and Greta; and brother-in-law, Herman Clayton Daniels.
Jeanette is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Lisa Johnson and children Tyler, Brayden, and Alivia; siblings, Mabel Daniels, Peggy (Paul) Missler, Linda (Paul) Burks, and Gary (Gayle) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Waypoint Freewill Baptist Church on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Jeanette may be made to Waypoint Freewill Baptist Church, 1802 Eastwood Ave, Akron, Ohio 44305 or Rubber City Rescue, 640 East Catawba Ave, Akron, OH 44306.
