Jeanne M. Betz Ripley

Jeanne M. (Orndorf) Betz Ripley, 65, of Tallmadge, passed away on May 5, 2013 at Akron City Hospital. She was born on March 11, 1948 to Zella (Carl) Meyers, CPS in Akron, Ohio. She was instrumental in bringing the Challenger program into the Akron area, was a member of Akron Board of Realtors and a licensed beautician . Jeanne enjoyed painting bright colors, coaching softball and led the Tallmadge Big League Softball team to a National Championship.

She is survived by her loving spouse, Duane E. Hartline of Tallmadge, Daughter, Kimberly J. Welsh of Akron, Daughter, Shawn D. (Robin Broseus) Betz of Tallmadge, Mother, Zella M. Meyers, CPS, Brother, Ronald B. (Karen) Orndorf, Sr. of Portage Lakes, Sister, Florence M. Bostick of Akron, Grandchildren; Austin Betz, Jacob Bonner, Riley Betz and John M.Welsh, IV, Step-Grandchildren; Davan Dawson, Christopher Hartline and Kaitlin M. Hartline, Friend, Robert J. (Linda) Betz who was her ex-husband and the father of her children, several nieces, nephews, relatives and her cat companion, Simon. She was preceded in death by her Father, Carl J. Meyers and Brother-in-law, Gary Bostick.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2013, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, following visitation, at the funeral home with Adam Loomis officiating. There will be a celebration of Jeanne's life held at The Upper Deck, 357 W Turkeyfoot Lake Rd, Portage Lakes, OH 44319 from 4-8 pm on Wednesday after the funeral service.
