Jeffery Ronald Gahres

Jeffery Ronald Gahres, "Jeff", age 67 of Akron, Ohio, died on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at his home after a short illness, battling cancer.
He was born on May 20, 1949 in Lebanon, PA, the son of Mildred Hardenstine Gahres of Akron and the late Robert S. Gahres.
Jeff was a 1968 graduate of Buchtel High School and was a bar manager for several establishments including, Wildwood Cafe, Bogies Lounge, Mama Llamas, B G Bree's-where he retired in July of 2016 after 27 years. Jeff was a little league coach in the North Akron Hot Stove League; and he also umpired hot stove as well. He really enjoyed cooking at the bar for special events, and was a master at smoking turkeys and hams. Jeff loved to golf, and was a very avid Cleveland sports fan. He really loved playing Santa Claus for various families.
Other than his mother, Jeff is survived by his siblings, Paul (Mary) Gahres, Sharen Schneier, Melanie Gahres all of the Akron area and John (Cathy) Gahres of Florida; nieces and nephews, Michael Gahres, Amy (Michael) Brodie, Nathan Schneier, Robert II, Donald, John-Mark, Elizabeth, Jeffery-Paul Gahres; two great-nieces and one great-nephew, Morgan, Dylan, and Gracelyn Schneier.
Memorial services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 1:00 PM, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Summa at Home Hospice, 1077 Gorge Blvd., Akron, Ohio 44310, in Jeff's memory.
