Jeris Lea Watkins

Jeris Lea Watkins, 67, passed away peacefully at home March 3, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born in Fort Ord, CA to Jim and Betty (Brown) Smoot, she lived in several places before coming to the Akron, OH area during her high school years. Jeris retired from Arc Best, where she worked as a Dispatcher for 17 years. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, working all kinds of puzzles and spending time with her family. Jeris is described by her kids as being a "saint", since she's been the most patient and caring person in the world to them.

In addition to her mom, Jeris was preceded in death by her son, Michael Watkins; granddaughter, Alexis; aunt, Opal Finney. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 40 years, John; children, Abram (Jessica) Watkins, Sasha Watkins, William (Jessica) Bozzelli; 10 grandchildren, dad, Jim Smoot; siblings, Jim (Debbie) Smoot, Brenda (Dave) Sturm; nieces, nephews and friends.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will have a celebration of her life at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Jeris' name to the charity of their choice.
