Jerry C. Winningham, 88, passed away in the hands of Jesus on January 10, 2011. Born in Livingston, TN, Jerry lived in Akron for most of his life. Served with the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific. A graduate of Akron South High School, Jerry retired as a maintenance foreman from Firestone. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. Preceded in death by his daughter, Maryl Winningham; and sister, Francis Brown. Survived by sons, David (Linda), of Michigan, Joel (Gail), of Texas, Paul (Diane), of Missouri; companion, Mary Jarvis; grandchildren, Rachel Schnegelberger, Patrick, Jason, Ryan, Daniel, Tim Winningham, Hannah Welker, Adam, Peter, Sarah Winningham; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay Rich, Delores (Raleigh) Vaughn, Sue Shoupe; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church, 724 Sumner St., Akron, where a service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
