Jerry L. Kassinger, Sr.
Jerry L. Kassinger, Sr., 65, passed away at home, among family and friends, on August 11, 2007, and will be missed by all. Born in Barberton on April 11, 1942. He graduated from Kenmore High and lived his whole life in Akron. He was married January 19, 1963 to Judy (nee Jones). Jerry was a barber very early in his career and worked at Firestone for several years. He retired from Akron City Schools. Jerry loved his wife, Judy, very much and together they had four children, Jerry Jr., Jeff, John, and Robin, all who he cherished. He loved to hunt and fish and play golf, especially with his sons and grandsons. He coached his sons in Little League baseball and loved to watch his children and grandchildren at their sporting events. Jerry always had words of wisdom for anyone who needed them. He was "Dad" or "Grandpa" to many. Jerry always had a hot cup of coffee for anyone who stopped in to visit with him, and he always had a lot of family and friends dropping by. Everyone loved talking with Jerry. Surviving Jerry is his wife of almost 45 years, Judy; sons, Jerry Jr. (Stephanie), Jeff S. (Stacie), and John M.; daughter Robin (friend James); grandchildren Joey, Julie, John J., Justin, Billy, Andy, Jacob, and Hunter; brother Brad; sister Kathi; sister-in-laws Darlene Solkoski, Lawana (Norman) Toler; and many nieces, nephews, and a cousin Jim (Eileen) Andrews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Katherine; maternal grandmother Anna Legats; father-in-law Ira Jones; mother-in-law Gadel (Arnold) Shinn; brother-in-law Bill Jones.
