Jerry R. Mayfield, 57, passed away on October 4, 2006. Born in Knoxville, TN on January 28, 1949 to the late Charles and Ruby Mayfield, he was an Akron resident for most of his life. Jerry loved Las Vegas and was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed collecting baseball cards. Jerry loved animals and will be remembered as a kind and caring person. Survivors include his sisters Janice Mayfield and Joyce (Edward) Cadena; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Family and friends may call from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating.
