Jerry "Zig" Siegenthaler, 71, of Akron, passed away on November 9, 2021. Zig was born in Bellaire, Ohio on September 10, 1950 to the late Wilbur and Jane Siegenthaler. He graduated from Rootstown High School and retired from Rotek. Zig will always be remembered for his great sense of humor. He loved sports, especially hockey, football, and baseball. He played and coached softball for many years. Zig also enjoyed taking care of his yard and working in his garden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Cline, Jim, and Calvin Siegenthaler.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Linda; children, Wendy Siegenthaler (Neil), Michele Newcome (Craig), Kassie Moyer (Dan), Brandi Siegenthaler, and Scot Siegenthaler; stepson, Doug Smith; sister, Julia Kiser; twelve grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Zig also leaves his friends from the Rootstown High School Class of 68, who were very special to him. He always looked forward to the annual class picnic.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. At 7 p.m., friends and family will be welcome to share thoughts and memories.
