Jerry Scott Whitworth

Jerry Scott Whitworth, age 82 of Ravenna, Ohio, died on May 4, 2023.
He was born on December 22, 1940 in Akron, Ohio, the son of the late Robert and Josie (nee Leatherman) Scott and his late adoptive parents, Charles and Dolores (nee Walker) Whitworth.
Jerry loved to play the lottery; he liked to garden, fish and play euchre at the senior center in Springfield.
Jerry was an honorably discharged US Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Haynsworth.
He was a very hard worker as a laborer for PPG.
Above all Jerry, was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Linda Obrst, whom he married on January 14, 1964; his daughters, Marie (Don) Allman and Julie (Doug) Wolfe; and his grandchildren, Adam (Sagan) Rex and Brandon Nelson.
Jerry's siblings also survive, Art Scott and Bernice Franks.
Other than his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by seven siblings.
The funeral service will be private and all arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home, Akron.
All are welcome at Jerry's burial at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio, on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
