Jerry D. Bates, 67, of Springfield Twp., passed away May 16, 2013. He was born in Akron on July 17 to the late O.C. and Mary Bates.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Christina; children, Jerry Jr., Corina and Sonia; 6 grandchildren; brother, Robert (Maria); sisters, Carol (Bruce) Saylor, Patricia (Don) Wilson.
Family and friends may call on Tues, May 21, from 5-9 p.m. and Wed., May 22, from 10-11 a.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joel Stroup officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Charity Water, 200 Varick St. Suite 201, NY, NY 10014 or Haven of Rest, 175 E. Market St. Akron OH 44308.
