Jill Marie Thomas (nee Barbone)
On November 24, 2011, Jill Marie Thomas (Barbone), a wonderful mother, daughter, wife, and friend passed under the grace of God...fitting because on Thanksgiving day she reminded us how blessed we all were to have such an amazing woman in our lives. Jill lived her life based on one core principle: treat others the way you would want to be treated. Her greatest gift is that she always cared about others more than herself. Her extraordinary charisma, personality, and electric smile radiated to anyone she came in contact with. Jill loved her work as a loan officer at Firestone Credit Union and even more so the people she worked with. They were a family just as much as those she was actually related to. Her favorite activities include walking, shopping, watching Duke basketball or Ohio State football, and taking care of her family. The love that she displayed was unconditional. Jill pressed on, courageously battling an awful disease that would eventually take her life. Until the end she was a fighter and gave everything she had once again not for herself but to have as much quality time with her family and friends...that is all that truly mattered to her. People often use the cliche that a person is one in a million, well Jill was truly the only one of her kind. We love you, we miss you, and we will think of you every day. Fear not for your faith has carried you through. Jill was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sam and Marie Barbone and Arlie and Beatrice Jenkins; and mother-in-law, Sherri. She is survived by her loving son, Anthony Johnson (Angie Phillips) and his father, Richard; parents, Michael and Lois Barbone; husband, James Thomas; brother, Bret (Debbie) Barbone; stepsons, Josh and Zach Thomas; nephews, Brian (Heather), Scott, Ryan (Debbie Sue), and David; great-nieces and great-nephews, Aribella, Devan, and Madison; aunt and uncle, Arlie and Alice Jenkins; cousins, Susan, Cathy, Patty, Nancy, Terry, Kathy, and Sam; special friends, Linda, Raette and Glenn, Pixie, Ellen, and Agnes. Jill's family wishes to thank the Summa team of doctors and nurses with special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit and Dr. Michael Chandler.
