Jimmie "Jim" Jarvis, 76, of Windham, passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2016. He was born December 31, 1939 in Oka, WV. Jim had a heart of gold with an outgoing personality, was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed taking care of the wildlife on his farm, flying his airplanes, watching NASCAR races and sports, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Wayfarer Lodge F&AM 789, Valley of Akron, Tadmor Shrine. Jim worked 18 years for McNeil Akron before starting Jarvis Industries Inc. in 1978.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Ellafae Jarvis; son, James Anthony; daughter, Theresa; and brother, Eugene. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Gail; son, Eric (Julie); grandchildren, Justin (Amanda), Ashley, Erica, Cody; great-grandson Jacob; sisters, Barbara (Robert), Carolyn, Donna Jean; and many other family and friends.
Family will receive guests on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 5-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service will take place on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 12pm. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Randolph. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children or the Portage County APL.
