Jimmy Walker Gentry, our Dad, our Pappy, our Pops and Grandpa died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 7th, 2022.
He was born at home on Tuesday, MAy 1st, 1934 in Clintwood, VA to George Dee Gentry and Dorothy Jane {Robinson} Gentry.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his Babe, Doris Lee {McClung} Gentry and two daughters Barbara Jean (Voth) Janis and Debra Ann {Lambert} Furcsik.
He is survived by his only sibling Bruce (Trish) Gentry and their son and daughter of New Market, VA. Also surviving are his children Pamela (Don) Eberly, Terry (Colleen) Lambert, Frederick (Marcia) Lambert, all of Akron, and Jimmy (Barbara) Gentry of Grove City, Ohio. Also 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, he moved to Akron and drove a concrete truck for Fairlawn Supply and Horning for forty plus years.
He was a funny, gentle, sweet-spirited man who is already missed by those who knew him. We will also miss his wonderful stories of his childhood growing up in the hills of Virginia. Especially his days of making moonshine and dodging the revenue men.
He enjoyed going to classic car shows, not only to see the classic cars, but to show his special vehicles, many of which won awards.
His family wishes to thank the angels at Summa Hospice and Galaxy Medical, especially his nurse, Sarah.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations in his name to be given to the American Cancer Society, https://donate3.cancer.org/?campaign=search&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=%5BB%5D+American+Cancer+Society+-+Exact&utm_term=american%20cancer%20society&utm_id=go_cmp-11361949398_adg-117026193771_ad-472778322661_kwd-52581190_dev-c_ext-_prd-_mca-_sig-EAIaIQobChMIwpKbhsvu-AIVUmxvBB1JRwtcEAAYASAAEgLV3_D_BwE&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwpKbhsvu-AIVUmxvBB1JRwtcEAAYASAAEgLV3_D_BwE.
