Jimmy L. Davis, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away May 19, 2010. Jim was born July 22, 1939 in Lenoir City, TN. He was the youngest of 11 children born to James Donald and Bettie Ann Pruitt Davis. Jim left home when he was 16, working as a telephone lineman in Hopedale, Ohio. At 17 he joined the Army, serving in Germany on the Czechoslovak border during the Cold War. He obtained the rank of Sergeant and received several medals and commendations. After discharge from the service, Jim relocated to Akron, learned the trade of carpentry, and became a master carpenter. Later he was to own his own business, Davis Builders. He is survived by wife, Betty; daughter, Kimberly Davis-Jones; stepsons, David (Connie) Riley, John (Cindy) Cook, and Joe (April) Cook; 4 grandchildren and 9 step-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Sue) Davis; sisters, Dorothy (Paul) Lanham and Betty (John) McNabb; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was a strong and independent man. He lived life as he thought right and died as he thought right. To honor Jim's wishes, there will be no services. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Summa.
