Jo-Dee M. Blakney

Jo-Dee M. Blakney, 54, and with heavy hearts we are sad to announce that Mom's journey is over and she has reached her final destination, she passed away on March 13, 2022 surrounded by her children. She was born on March 16, 1967 the daughter of Joseph and Vickie Gurnish.
Jo-Dee was employed with Dayton Freight with 20 years of dedicated service. She had an eye for photography taking many beautiful photos of nature. She also enjoyed crafting. She had many achievements but her greatest was her love for her family.
She is reunited with her father, Joseph Gurnish; and grandmother June Gurnish.
Jo-Dee is survived by her loving family, mother Vickie Gurnish; children Lynsi (Vincent) Blakney, Cathie (Philip) Faris, and Michael (Loran) Blakney; grandchildren Philip, Tommy, Alyx, and Noah; brother Joseph Gurnish II; nieces Amanda and Ashlee; great-nephews Joseph, Josiah. and Collin; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Matthias Knopp officiating.
Interment will be held at Tallmadge Cemetery.
