Joan "Joanne" Beers (nee Kostelny), 77, passed away on January 25, 2013.
She was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the US Army. Joanne was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Joanne was the president of the Ladies Auxiliary Eagles 555.
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her mother, Mary Kostelny. Survivors include daughter, Terri (Michael) Helmacy; sister, Jane (Anthony) DiDonato; brother, Jerry (Diana) Kostelny; niece, Kim Armstrong.
Special thanks to the staff at Gaslite Villa for their love and care the last 3 ½ years. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 4-7 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.
