Joan C. Grohe, 53, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 13, 2012. She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on July 10, 1958 to the late Rev. Ronald and Vivian Slonaker. Joan graduated from Massillon Baptist College. She was a talented singer and enjoyed singing with her father during church services. She loved being outdoors, both at the beach and in her garden. She was a great cook and could whip up a terrific meal with any ingredients. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by two grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 32 years, Donald; daughters, Amanda Grohe and Sarah (Herman) Westfall; sisters, Rhonda Tafoya and Becky Precord; granddaughters, Katelyn and Hannah Westfall; nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Jessica, Michael, and Emma.
Family and friends may call on Friday April 20 from 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joan's family.
