Joan Monte

Joan Ann Monte (Zateslo) "Joni", 87, of Akron, Ohio, passed away October 12, 2022 peacefully with her family by her side. She was born to the late Virginia Mary Zateslo (Hughes) and George Zateslo. Beloved wife of the late Anthony "Tony"; loving mother of Dominick (Marita) Monte, Mary Uher, Angie (Randy) Barnhart, and the late Terri (Bill, deceased) Stevens; cherished grandmother of Robert Wright Jr. (Danielle Vega), Christina (Tyler) Shockey, Joe (Laura) Cianciola, Nicole (Noah) Roberts, Tony (Alexa) Monte, Danielle (Khayman) Cox, and Tyler Uher; great-grandmother of Dawson, Savannah, and Griffin. Joni was a sweet, loving, caring, and beautiful person who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a Cleveland Indians fan. Joni enjoyed gardening, being outdoors in the sunshine, and making big spaghetti dinners for her family. One of Joni's favorite things to do was watch

Food Network so that she could make new recipes for her family. She had an infectious smile and has touched all of our lives with unconditional love.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 4-7 followed by a brief service at 7:00 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 300 E. Tallmadge Ave., Akron. Inurnment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joni's name in care of Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, OH 44305.
