Joan M. Rodgers (Riegler)

Joan M. Rodgers (Riegler), 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 18, 2021. She was born in Akron to the late John and Margaret Riegler. Joan graduated from St. Mary's High School. She met and married her high school sweetheart Ed Rodgers in 1957.

Joan enjoyed many interests and hobbies. She loved to bake, travel on Candle Coach, shopping at T.J. Maxx and Kohl's, decorating for the holidays and spending time at the lake. Joan was active in charities like Akron Children's Hospital Tree Festival and harness race. Her biggest joy was spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; son-in-law, Jim; granddaughter, Emily; and nephews, Mike and Sean. She is survived by her brothers, Chick Riegler (Pat), John Riegler (Marilyn), Ed Riegler (Jean); sister, Anne; children, Rick (Kathy), Joe (Claudette), Lori (Bill), Bob, and Mark (Debbie); grandchildren, Ellen, Michael, AJ, Bobbie, Julie, Jonathan, Josh, Jenna, Zack, Chryssie, Mack; and great-grandchildren, Matilda, Lucinda, Josephine, Lake, Cole, Henry, Jack, Parker and Elliot.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Anne Riegler and health aide Debbie Geiger for their loving care.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am - 1:00pm on Monday, April 26 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service to begin at 1:00pm. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron to follow.
