Joan Stuart, age 78 of Akron, Ohio, died on July 23, 2017 at 11:45 PM at Falls Village Nursing Home.
She was born on July 6, 1939 in Akron, the daughter of the late Robert Burl and Ethel Burchette Stuart.
Joan was a graduate of Springfield High School and also attended the University of Akron. She was a retired media buyer for Norman Malone and Associates in Akron, as well as other agencies.
Joan enjoyed music, her church, the New Apostolic Church of Tallmadge, but her greatest joy was being with her family.
Survivors include her son, Edward J. (Cassandra "Cassie") Burgy; her two granddaughters, Aurora Burgy and Brynne Burgy; and her sister, Frances "Jeralie" McKinney; and many nieces and nephews.
Other than her parents, Joan was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at the New Apostolic Church, 356 Eastwood Avenue, Tallmadge, Ohio 44278, on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 7:00 PM where family and friends may gather at 6:00 PM.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home-Akron.
