Joan Wolonsky of Mogadore, Ohio (Suffield Twp), age 89, was welcomed into heaven Saturday, August 10, 2024, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family.
Joan was born December 20, 1934, in Weston, WV to the late James and Bonnie (Davis) Williams.
She moved to the Akron area in 1951 and graduated from East High School in 1953. She married Frank Wolonsky on August 19, 1961, and worked as an executive secretary to the Vice President of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 24 years and retired in 1995. She also volunteered at Edwin Shaw for many years.
Joan enjoyed being outside in her beautiful yard planting and tending to her flowers, feeding the birds (hummingbirds were her favorite) or mowing the yard on her tractor. She had a deep love for all animals and rescued her cat Mitsy and gave her a great life. She enjoyed going to see her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s baseball games, cheerleading, ballet performances and band concerts. She enjoyed water aerobics at the Lake YMCA three days a week. She enjoyed her luncheons with “The Goodyear Girls”, as well as her friends from water aerobics and her closest friends. She delighted in playing cards and sharing her friendship. She went white water rafting at 71 years young, zip-lining in Belize and enjoyed traveling with her friends. Her favorite cruise was her Alaskan Cruise with her husband.
Joan was a devout member of The Mogadore Methodist Church for 62 years. Her love of her church and church family was boundless. She enjoyed being a member of Naomi Circle, and the countless hours and dedicated service to the church, for that is what she truly loved.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Frank, sisters June (Bill) Fellows, Margie (Bud) Elliott, Betty (Cliff) Crocker.
She is survived by her three children, daughter Linda (Jon) Treml, sons Michael (Gina) Wolonsky, Mark (Ronda) Wolonsky. She was a caring and loving grandmother to seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Brittany (Craig) Rohner (Eli & Dunham), Katlyn (David) Reger (Vivienne, Emilia & Reese), Alexa (Joanna) Treml-Hall (Bodie), Lesley Treml, Jordan (Kaitlyn) Stebler, Kirstyn (Randy) Shaffer (Shepherd), Alyssa Wolonsky; along with many nieces, nephews and close friends.
To say we will miss her is an understatement. She will be forever remembered as we will miss hearing her voice, seeing her in her yard, making her Christmas Cookies, making her perfect bacon, her witty humor, her smile and never missing breakfast.
We would like to give a special thank you to her closest friends for their help, care and friendship when she needed you the most.
“We are reminded how short life really is, and how we are just passing through. So, all the people you haven’t told you love lately, tell them, and live your days like you mean it.” – Hal Sutton
Our tears will be replaced with smiles and laughter as we remember the wonderful memories we all have of her. In memory and to celebrate Joan’s remarkable life, we request the joy of your company and fond memories at her Celebration of Life which will be held at Mogadore Methodist Church on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11am.
