Joanne (Jenny) Ferrise

Joanne (Jenny) Ferrise, 74, passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2009. Jenny was a lifelong resident born in Akron, Ohio on October 25, 1934. Preceded in death by her parents, Gregory and Teresa Gully and siblings, Frank Gully, Joe Gully and Ross Gully. Also preceded in death by her in-laws, James Bunt, Salvatore and Antonia Ferrise, Isabel Walker, John Ferrise, Mary Tillett, Albert Ferrise and Rosario Ferrise. She is survived by her children, Teresa (Jody), Antonio (Marisa), Joanne (Steve); grandchildren, Franky and Sal; step grandchildren, Brittaney (Chuck) and Joel; one great-stepgrandson, Jayden. Also survived by sisters, Mary Bunt and Santa Harbert; and surviving in-laws, Margaret Gully, Theresa Disbrow, Katherine (Art) Gruber, Sam (Jennie) Ferrise, Antonio Ferrise, Virginia Yocono, Patricia (Mike Patrino), Jean Sargon and Marianne (Tom) Lammers; sisters-in-law, Mollie Ferrise and Rose Ferrise. Many nieces, nephews, countless friends and her dog, Sparky. Jenny worked at B.F. Goodrich for several years and then became a devoted, loving, caring mother of three. She enjoyed working in her yard, spending time with her grandchildren, watching children learn to swim in her pool, and taking trips to the casino. Jenny will be genuinely missed by all who knew her. Married to her belated husband, Frank, for 46 years, she helped build Ferrise & Son Excavating into a successful business. Mom died of a broken heart and has rejoiced with Dad in the heavens above.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 6:30 - 9 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron . Funeral Mass will be Monday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Church preceded by prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
