Joanne "Goldie"Hileman Kopsky

Joanne "Goldie" Hileman Kopsky, 85, passed away May 23rd, 2014 at her home in Akron with her son, Jon, by her side. She was born July 1st, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to the late Lawton and Mary Jane Hileman. In addition to her parents, Goldie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Fred Kopsky. She will be greatly missed by Jon, Leah, Roo and the many friends she made throughout her lifetime. Many thanks to special friends Dr. Joseph and Mary Meli. Goldie was the first woman president of the 'Young Dems' in Akron and was proud to have escorted John F. Kennedy during a visit through Northeast Ohio prior to his term in office.

Friends and family may call from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 27th, 2014 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 at Mt. Peace Cemetery, 183 Aqueduct, Akron, OH 44303. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions suggested to Humane Society of Greater Akron.
