Joanne K. Piercy (Nee Mcgough)

Joanne Kathleen Piercy "Peggy" (nee McGough), born on July 18, 1932 to Vernon and Kathryn McGough, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 27, 2017.

She was raised in Firestone Park and as a little girl, won the Little Miss Firestone Pageant. Joanne went to Firestone Park grade school, Garfield High School and Business College. She married Richard "Dick" on May 7, 1954, they had 4 children. Simply put, she was an amazing woman, a perfectionist at everything she did. She was known for having a kind heart, gentle hands; she loved flowers and gardening. Up until the time of her illness, she along with her husband found great joy and fun spending time with their great-grandson, Cade.

She will be dearly missed by her husband Dick; children, Mike (Wendy), Peggy, Patrick and Timothy; grandchildren, Matthew (Rachael), Nicole, Evan and Joseph; great-grandson, Cade; sister, Barbara Round; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from 11 am until time of funeral service at 1 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. She will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Ronald McDonald House.
