Joanne Slaven

Joanne Slaven, 75, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2012. Joanne enjoyed trips to Mountaineer and spending time with her family. Preceded in death by parents, Flick and Stella Bennett; sisters, Pat Curry, Bette Williams; brother, Frank Bennett. Survivors include her beloved husband, Howard, of 56 years; sons, Howard, II (Renee) and Scott (Sharon); grandchildren, Cortney, Tyler, and Kayli; and her dog, Kirby. Calling hours will be Sunday, 4-6 p.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Silver Springs Cemetery in Stow.
