Joe L. Harris, Jr.

Joe L. Harris, Jr., 66, went Home to be with the Lord on April, 2, 2023. born in Fort Bragg, NC to Joe L. Harris, Sr. and Dorothy Brown Calloway, he resided in the Akron area all of his adult life. Joe was a longtime Apostle at Gates of Praise W.C. He also was a proud Veteran of the U. S. Marines and was a dedicated Safety Manager with A. W. P. Company for 15 years. Joe enjoyed watching wrestling, working in his yard, bodybuilding, preaching the Word of God and spending time with his beloved family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pastor Joe Harris, Sr. and brother, Kenny Harris. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 9 years, Mary Harris; children, April Harris, Anthony (Tasha) Harris, Renee Harris, Joseph Harris, Kendrick Standford, Jayson Harris, Dorothy Harris, Joe "JT" Harris III, Eboni Joelle Harris, Jazze Deez, Tristan Smith, Joshua Thompson, Andre Harris, Sha'Lon J. Harris, Jermaine Webb, Jeremiah Thompson, Aaliyah Webb, Danielle Riley, Jocelyn Graham, David Lacey, Austin Bell, Cameron Lacey, Nichole Tolbert, James Martin, Ruthie Webb, Shatavia Harris, Shonda Harris, Ser'Jai Harris, Laylia Santee, Nita Lee Santee, Nicole Franks, Ezell Lomack, Anthony Lomack, Nester (Desiree) Sylva; mother, Dorothy (Nate) Calloway; siblings, Joetta (George) Fleming, Joseph (Geneva) Harris, Tracy (Andre) Davis, Teresa (Terry) Symes, Joel ( Lenise) Harris, Sonya (Lawrence) Champlin, Yolanda (Larry) Mims, Jalon (Jordan) Fry; plus a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, April 14, 2023 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Joe's name to Gates of Praise W.C., 796 Florida Ave., Akron, OH 44314.
