John C. Carder

John C. Carder, 87, went home to be with the Lord on August 20, 2018. He was born in Akron on March 23, 1931 and graduated from Hower Aviation High School. John served in the South Pacific as a radiation specialist in the US Air Force, after which he worked for 31 years as a computer service technician with IBM. He actively attended the E. Market St. Church of God serving as choir director for 20+ years and enjoyed mission trips to Ecuador. John was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and camping.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Betty; 7 brothers and sisters; and 1 grandchild. He is survived by his children, Gail (Frank) Norris, Dale Carder, Ray (Wynn) Carder; 19 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther and Alice; and brothers, Daniel and Roy.

Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 12pm with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Akron to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choosing.
