John (Jack) D. Fergus passed away on March 12, 2015 at home with his wife and family by his side. Jack's sense of humor was cherished by all who knew him. He lovingly gave unconditionally to his family. In his younger years, he played for the Burkhart Brewing Football Team associated with the Cleveland Browns. He was a veteran in the US Army, 351st Tank Company. Jack was an avid golfer; taking pride in his hole-in-one. He especially enjoyed swimming with the Green YMCA Arthritis Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Helene Fergus; brother, James Fergus; and sweet granddaughter, Christina Sammons Sommers. Jack leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 34 years, Karen; children, David, Colleen, Christopher (LaShawn), Jason (Jeannine), Pam (Tony) Thorne, Judi (Dave) Sammons, Deanna (Dan) Rummell; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Chenowith for her loving care. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday March 14, 2015 at 10am at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 44 University Ave. Akron, OH 44308. Family will receive friends from 9-10am. Father Dan Reed officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
