John F. Dewey, age 90 of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, died on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Danbury Woods.
He was born on June 30, 1928 in Warren, PA, the son of the late Robert A. and Violet (nee Biekarck) Dewey.
John was an honorably discharged US Army Veteran, he served during WWII.
Mr. Dewey was, at one time, the editor/photographer/advertiser of the Falls News in Cuyahoga Falls. He then worked and retired from Firestone in the advertising department. After retirement, John and Stevie loved to sail their boat on Lake Erie and traveled extensively with their camper. John enjoyed playing bridge with his wife in the neighborhood bridge clubs and was an avid reader of the Akron Beacon Journal bridge column. He was a dedicated family man, spending time frequently at Chautauqua Lake at the family cottage.
Survivors include his five children, Nancy (Joe) Spainhourd, Barb Dewey, Laurie (Alan) Anderson, David Dewey, and Mar Kavosick; his grandchildren, Melissa (Ryan), Stephanie, Nick, Cody, Emily, and Quentin. His siblings also survive, Jaci (Jon) Pounds, Jo Stewart, Don (Sandy) Dewey, Fred (Karleen) Dewey, and Rog (Helen) Dewey.
Other than his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife, the former Laurel "Stevie" Gradolph on May 31, 2003, they were united in marriage on June 11, 1950; his siblings, Rae Brant, Phyllis Sheldon, Bob Dewey, and Rex Dewey.
Per John's wishes there will not be any calling hours and a memorial service may be held at a later date.
