John Earl Dorner

John E. Dorner, age 87, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Akron City Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1932, the son of Harry and Loretta {May} Dorner. John married his sweetheart, Mae Kelly, and they spent 42 wonderful years of marriage together until her passing in 2002.

John worked as a truck driver, and loved buying cars. He was an active person, and a sweet and kind soul to all that knew him. John adored his family, and will be sadly missed by brother Clarence; step-son Harold Edwards; grandchildren Susan (Tony) Hornbeck, Ray Edwards, Jim (Bill) Hymes, Tom Smith, Nancy (Larry) Engelhardt, Judy Starcher, Karen Starcher, Debbie Surrency; many great-grandchildren and their families.

John was preceded in death by his wife Mae, his parents, sister Betty and step-daughter Lauretta.

John's family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Summa Hospice Nurses for all their compassionate care and guidance during his illness.

There will be no formal services or calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newcomer, Akron Chapel. Interment has taken place at Hillside Memorial Park.
